An easy way to separate your practice from others is to offer a scented warm towel at the end of the patient's visit. We give this to the patient after every small or large procedure. We put them in a small heating pad and give the warm towel to the patient. The lavender smell in the towel is very refreshing and patients always appreciate it.
Using a rubber dam is always the best way to isolate and get the best possible result in restorative dentistry. Not only it improves outcomes, but also makes the procedure efficient and convenient. This case involves a healthy 76 year old patient who recently started sucking on sugar free cough drops several times a day. This habit has been going on for about a year and has resulted in many of his teeth suddenly getting root decay. It was decided to do caries control on teeth #18 and 19 and evaluate the need for endodontic treatment and restorability. Tooth #20 also need similar treatment, but due to finances we decided to stage the treatment and take care of the most pressing issues. Under rubber dam, the existing crowns were removed and decay was evaluated. Decay was cleaned and core build up was done with dual core composite.
